Back to School! Here Are Some Things You Should Know:

It’s that time, when parents breathe a sigh of relief and kids breathe a sigh of sadness that summer has come to an end. School will be back in session in just over one week. Horry and Georgetown schools return to their education is mid-August, allowing students to settle in with new teachers and classes before waving goodbye to summer over their labor Day weekend vacation.

Here at RE/MAX Southern Shores, we have been having a busy summer! We recently had our BEST sales day with a record number of 41 closings and $216,775.34 in commissions received by our agents. More and more people want to move to Myrtle Beach! As mentioned in our previous blog posts, it is not hard to see why! We have so many benefits, amenities, and our schools maintain that competitive edge!

If you’re considering relocating, finances and education opportunities can leave a big question mark. That is why it is always important to ask the experts! Our agents do not just sell houses, they help educate our buyers on the benefits of our area and can give AMAZING insight on our local attractions, school systems, and so much more! Let’s not forget that some of our agents are Super Parents too!

Horry County Schools is not the only source for new Back To School updates. MyrtleBeachOnline also had a few tips to share when it came to Back To School preparedness:

-School Security: This will be the first year that armed guards will be in every school in the district.
-Traffic: As of Wednesday August, 21 buses will be out in full force! Remember, if you are behind a stopped bus, you cannot pass. IT’S THE LAW.
-New Schools: All the new schools are finally complete and district officials say 4,200 students will attend all five energy-positive schools as Socastee Middle School opens for the first time. It was the last of the five new schools to be complete.
-Enrollment: District officials are projecting an increase of 848 over last year’s 45-day enrollment of 44,060 to make the new total 44,908.
-River Oaks: 5th Graders at River Oaks Elementary WILL START THE YEAR at Ocean Bay Middle. There is no date in mind of when they will return to River Oaks.
