Summer is officially beginning and that means it’s one of the busiest seasons here on the Grand Strand. However, with social distancing and large events being canceled, many are worried if that will impact their Myrtle Beach area vacation.
Of Course NOT!!!!
We have a list of awesome activities that are available in the Grand Strand that can help maintain social distancing while still enjoying all your favorite parts of summer in South Carolina!
Visit 1 of 2 State Parks!
The Grand Strand is home to both Myrtle Beach State Park and Huntington Beach State Park. Both state parks offer excellent stretches of shoreline to enjoy, along with the opportunity to explore various trails, spot wildlife, or even tour historic Atalaya. And avid shell or shark tooth hunters love the state parks for treasure hunting!
Take In A Little Friendly Competition With A Game Of Putt-Putt
Several mini golf courses across the Grand Strand have reopened. Family & friends are encouraged to come out and see who can get a hole in one. Mini golf locations are also keeping equipment clean by sanitizing clubs, golf balls, and even pencils before allowing the next group to begin their game.
Visit Brookgreen Gardens
Brookgreen Gardens is primarily an outdoor attraction, featuring the largest outdoor collection of American sculpture in the world. Set on the site of 9 former rice plantations, there is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy most of what Brookgreen has to offer. Right now, they have the Bruce Munro light exhibit that features seven works of art in light and mixed media, each designed specifically for the natural garden rooms where they will be installed. The illuminated installations will consist of tens of thousands of components.  They are asking for groups to come wearing face masks as well.
Spend Some Time At The Beach
The beach is one of the easiest places to social distance, and sunbathers can enjoy the benefit of fresh air and sunshine while doing so. Just be sure to place at least 6 feet between your beach chair and other beachgoers. With new social distancing practices and over 60 miles of beaches across the Grand Strand, staying safe while catching rays has never been easier.
Grab A Pint of Ice Cream
Many local hotspots are offering to-go options for groups and families. Some of these options are your standard cups of ice cream while others have created ice cream sundae deals and packages that include multiple flavors, toppings, and even brownies! Beating the heat really is sweet!
Kayak Tours
Excellent kayaking excursions can be found all along the Grand Strand, with some of the most popular being on the north end, out of Cherry Grove, and the south end, out of Murrells Inlet. Whether 2-hour or half-day, any kayaking excursion allows for plenty of social distance amongst kayakers and guides.
Farmer’s Markets
The Waccamaw Market Cooperative recently announced all area farmers markets were open again. Like a grocery store, face masks are encouraged, as well as shopping with your eyes and not your hands, but the outdoor atmosphere allows more distance and the opportunity to purchase something you can safely cook at your rental property. Farmer’s Markets are open across the Grand Strand in Little River, Myrtle Beach, Conway, Surfside, & more!
